Choose the right search radius
The ideal radius depends on why you are searching. In a dense city center, one or two kilometres can contain dozens of options. In rural areas, a wider radius may be necessary. Begin narrow, inspect the results and expand only when needed.
Walking
Start with 1 km. A nearby result may still require a longer route because of crossings, bridges or pedestrian access.
Cycling
Try 2–5 km and check route suitability, especially when searching for repair shops or services along a planned trip.
Driving
5–20 km can be useful for fuel, EV charging, hospitals, campsites or attractions outside a town center.
Compare more than distance
The closest result is not automatically the best one. Depending on the category, you may want to compare opening times, operator, accessibility, facilities, official website information and the route required to get there.
Useful search combinations
When planning a stop, related categories can provide a better picture of the area. For example, an EV charger near a cafe can make a charging stop more convenient, while a campsite near fuel and food services may simplify a road trip.
When to verify before leaving
- Medical and emergency-related locations
- EV charging availability, connector type and charging power
- Opening hours on Sundays, holidays and evenings
- Facilities that require bookings, tickets or memberships
- ATMs or services where fees, access or operating conditions matter
Privacy-conscious searching
You do not always need to use your precise device location. Searching by city, street, postal code or landmark can be a useful alternative when you simply want to explore an area.
